Meet the Grange Family Chiropractic Team (our story)

When I was 18 months old I managed to fall from the second floor of our home to the ground and fracture my spine. From then on I was always accident prone and spent every school holiday at hospital getting stitches from the falls. I also developed constant ear infections that prevented me from swimming and was prescribed antibiotics that never helped.

When I started receiving chiropractic care in 1982 my ear infections ceased and I stopped having accidents (no more trips to the emergency ward). I have spent the rest of my life, to date, without seeing the inside of a GP’s office or taking antibiotics.

For me, chiropractic fixed the ear infections and stopped me being clumsy.

It was only in retrospect after starting my Chiropractic degree in 1993 that I could put the whole story together…

I fractured the growing part of the 5th lumbar vertebrae of my spine (near where the spinal cord ends). This caused a problem that affected every part of my body. Pressure to this area has been known to cause irritable bowel syndrome, recurrent viral infections, tonsillitis, allergies, intractable lower back pain, head aches, ear infections and loss of balance that, if left uncorrected, could lead to years of ill health.

Thankfully, in my situation, my injuries were caught early enough so that I have been able to make a complete recovery.

Chiropractic has helped my body to heal without the need for drugs or surgery. And now I choose to have weekly chiropractic care because it helps me to maintain my body’s perfect balance.

Having grown up like most kids, I was sent to my family GP when I was sick for the usual prescription of antibiotics. Having thought this was the norm I was so relieved to discover a healthy and natural alternative in chiropractic when I met Sandy in 1997.

My health concern at the time was persistent cold-sores due to a dysfunctional immune system – most probably due to all the antibiotics I had consumed. Perhaps a bit unsure of how chiropractic was going to help me I found it easy to trust in Sandy and his knowledge and soon learned that my own body was capable of self-healing if the interferences I had were corrected.

I experienced many benefits from regular chiropractic care but none more satisfying that the remission of those rotten cold-sores. In my opinion, chiropractic has helped me to reach my optimal health, my body now functions the way it is supposed to, naturally and has allowed me to experience healthy and enjoyable pregnancies with active births.

I now look forward to seeing the amazing advantages of chiropractic in my children’s development and just like eating right or brushing my teeth; chiropractic is always part of my life and the life of my family.

Dr Sandy Asks some important questions of interest to Grange residents - Chiropractor Grange Dr Sandy Asks...

How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
